Disney Ufufy have finally arrived in the U.S.! These adorable little fluffy friends were originally released in Japanese Disney Stores on November 3, 2016.
We were there to witness Release Day in Tokyo last year, with huge crowds of Disney fans collecting their favorite Ufufy.
After nearly a year of waiting, you can finally purchase Ufufy friends at your local Disney Store! Just released in the U.S. on October 6, 2017, these plush friends join the ever-popular Tsum Tsums as the latest kawaii (cute) export from Japan!
The American Ufufy were released in three different sizes
- the original ‘small’ size — about 4.5 inches tall (priced at $5.95)
- the ‘mini’ size — about 2.5 inches tall (set of 2 priced at $9.95)
- and the ‘medium’ size — about 12 inches tall — Pooh and Donald, priced at $16.95
The original small size Ufufy have a light apple blossom scent (and sport a new, tiny apple tag on their left hand). They come in most of the original Japanese-release characters, including Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy, Pluto, Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, Eeyore, Marie, and Stitch. Not included in this initial American release: Dumbo, Cheshire cat, Chip and Dale.
We found these Ufufy at the San Diego Fashion Valley Disney Store. Here was their display introducing the Ufufy.
This is a close-up of the sign in the case. “Ufufy” translated from Japanese means something like ‘fluffy’ and ‘cloud,’ explained the store manager in the Tokyo Ikspiari Disney Store when we spoke with her last year.
Mini-Ufufy come in pairs. They are available as: Mickey and Minnie, Pooh and Piglet, or Chip and Dale. Here are the mini-Ufufy pictured in front of the original-size Ufufy.
In the U.S., Disney has released the Pooh and Donald medium-sized Ufufy. In Japan, they have a medium-sized Mickey as well. These are incredibly soft and huggable (as you would expect from a Japanese plush). 
Medium Ufufy retail for 2592 Yen in Japan (about $22.80 USD), compared with their $16.95 price tag here. Needless to say, Pooh and Donald came home with us.
Since their debut in Japan, Disney Ufufy have been introduced in Hong Kong and Disneyland Paris. They were also newly released in Canada (Oct. 6th), and in Europe on October 16, 2017.
The original small Ufufy have apple-blossom scented beads in their bottoms, but the mini- and medium-sized Ufufy are not scented. In Japan, they sell apple-blossom scent sprays online for 1620 Yen (about $14.27). I hope that they sell these in the U.S. soon!
